Hi all!

I have a shed housing baby chickens under a grove of trees. I'll be needing to clean the shed in a bit, and I of course want a cleaning solution strong enough to get rid of all the bacteria, but that won't harm the root system of my trees. Do any of you have experience with an environmentally friendly cleaning solution such as this?

Thanks,
Olivia

Is your shed a dirt floor?

If so I think you'd be better off putting about 4-6 " of sand. (do a byc search for sand floor coops) It helps to dry out the poop. Once the poop is dry, the bacteria die quickly. I don't hear of many people cleaning and disinfecting their coops unless they've had a disease outbreak.

Either way, I don't think whatever you choose to clean with will have much of an impact on the trees. You'd have to dump gallons of the stuff for it to leach out horizontally enough to hurt them.

To answer your question, though, try to look up a cleaner called "simple green."

Dan
