EPDM for pond liner - is it safe?

It's fine, only one problem. Duck nails. They will shred it if you let them use the pond.
This regards the point about duck nails shredding EPDM rubber. We are building a coop on posts and are looking for a non-Blackjack coating for the plywood floor. The coop will house a mixed flock of mostly chickens, a half-dozen ducks, a few turkeys, and a few guinea hens when they feel like dropping in. Will ducks shred the EPDM when it's used as coop flooring (covered with bedding), or it only a problem when it's used as a duck pond liner? Thanks.
