I love horses (and chickens) and want to know who else rides? what sport? whats the horse you ride like? this thread is completely random, but I have to think that some folks who have chickens also have/ride horses. how long have you guys been riding? any questions or thoughts (preferably about horses;))

I also love to ride! I have a 23-year-old appendix quarter horse mare that thinks she's a 3-year-old 😅

I don't compete or anything but just ride for fun. Mainly take her out on trails when I have time or just around the property in the evenings.

I have only been riding for 3 or four years... I do trails mostly (with a saaaasy mare) but am training to barrel race! I do not have my own horse😥, but am looking into it! Horseback riding is my life, and it’s something I hope to keep in my life, no matter how many times I fall off, I don’t think I can stay out of the saddle😉! Have fun everyone... and when in doubt let your horse do the thinking!

There are lots of riders here! I breed Connemara Sportponies and we just had one born today! IMG_20200429_000956.jpg

We're really excited about him. Fingers crossed, his future holds three-day eventing and maybe some working equitition. His mother has been shown in halter and will be going back into training once he's weaned. She does trails and cross country, and we're hoping to get involved in historical reenactments.
Here's another of our Sportponies, Gandalf, who's ready for a new home and a show ring.

Seeing them move on is the saddest and at the same time, most satisfying part of being a breeder.

They are a bit hard to find, but they are here! Once travel opens up again, I'll be bringing home Gandalf's sire, who is a purebred Connemara, for semi-retirement here. We'll be standing him at stud. The Sportponies are registered partbred (usually half and down to one quarter, but sometimes high percentage, my personal riding mare is 75%) Connemaras that are bred for competition. Gandalf's mother is an Arabian/Andulusian cross.

I really love the Connemaras and crosses. They just love to do things with you. Besides jumping, Gandalf also will take the hardest trails, has helped me round up runaway cows and will skid logs. They just love to go do things with you.

Here's my Nighthawk, ground working with tack after an injury (she's fine now)
