Hi, I'm Rebekah.

Um, I don't have any chickens yet, but I hope to soon.

Just have to convince my Dad first.

My current favorite is the Rhode Island Red, and, tee-hee, they're also my Dad's favorite chicken. :)

Who says God doesn't have a sense of humor?

Anyhow, I'm really liking this site and my Mom liked the sound of it, too.

(That's a good thing, by the way.)

Well, must go.

Glad to have you join us! Hopefully your parents let you get some chickens. Raising them is a very fun experience. I have several breeds of chickens. I have,

2 White Leghorns,
2 Golden Campines (a flighty breed, but very pretty)
2 Easter Eggers,
1 Black Australorp,
5 Buff Orpingtons (My favorite breeds by far),
7 Rhode Island Reds (one is a rooster),
2 New Hampshire Reds,
and 2 Buff Orpington/Rhode Island Red mixes.

For a beginner I would suggest Buff Orpingtons, Rhode Island Reds, Barred Rocks (which I don't currently have) and maybe some Easter Eggers. These are all very sweet breeds. Buff Orps, Barred Rocks, and Rhode Islands all lay brown eggs, and Easter Eggers lay pinky brown, green, or blue eggs.
