Ok I have a decent sized flock of chickens 8 assorted hens or all different breeds and one roo (rrr) a friend and I did some trading and I acquired 2 more hens and another roo (a bluffington which I figured would be ok in a pot) so during the night I snuck the 2 hens in the coop and put the new roo in a separate cage. The next morning was interesting to say the least I let out the flock to roam around and my roo went straight to the cage and they both did their thing, while the hens decided their new pecking order and while trying to keep everyone safe I heard the hoarsest cock-a-doodle-do from my biggest hen (a Dominique) ...opps maybe she's a he.
Well the newly acquired roo (bluff) made it to a stew pot, and the 2 newest hens have taken up with the big hoarse (Dominique) one while all the other hens have stayed faithful to my original roo(rrr). The Dominique short of a pun is a real chicken he runs from everything where as the rrr has tried me a few times. but they have all grown up together. Is it possible that they will be peaceful in their two flock status or am I going to have to dismiss the weakest link in this herd to save one from killing the other. Any questions and advise will be greatly appreciated.
