I had quite the scare today. I have 5 chicks (5 weeks old) in the house in a big brooder. Up to this point, they had not started flying out of the brooder yet. I left early this morning to go to the grocery store and run some errands. I also left my 3 dogs in the house. Well, when I get home about 4 hours later, I open the front door and guess what is standing there to greet me? My 3 dogs and 3 of the chicks !!! My first thought was, OMG...where are the other 2? I ran into the room where the brooder is, and the other 2 chicks were still in it sacked out napping. The other 3 chicks and my 3 dogs were just running around in the house. I had a few droppings to clean up, but that is the worst of the damage. After the initial scare, I just laughed and laughed. Those little chicks looked so silly waiting at the door for me. LOL.
