Essential oils are?

Maybe she is or thinks she is sitting on an egg. She is puffed up and yells at me when I peek. She's in a real mood!

I am no expert, but if she is not feeling well maybe it would be best to let nature take its course in the aspect of healing. I know that fresh garlic is a natural antibiotic, maybe some fresh garlic oil (take some crushed garlic and mix w/a small amount of food for her). I mix fresh homemade kefir w/the powdery part of our feed that the girls leave behind, so that they get the probiotics. Do you have a heat source to keep the coop temp at an even keel, say 35-40 degrees at night? Here in SoCal our temps get kinda screwy too, but that is all part of nature. Is she quarantined so as to not get other birds sick?

Just a few thoughts that I would think for my self if I were in your shoes. Again, I am far from being an expert at this myself. We are only coming up on 1 year.

Best to you!

Just saw this. They DO do that. Hopefully she isn't egg bound. I didn't read if she has already laid her first egg or not. Don't be afraid though. I go in gently and push the girls aside to see if they are brooding on an egg. That is another thing...she could be broody???

My thoughts go out to you.

seeming broody. she is out running around. thanks for the good tips. I am keeping an eye on her. AND YOUR TIPS and contributions. It is all appreciated, thank you!

This is what I use on MY chickens I do not ever use chemicals or Antibiotics,, Just a word before I tell you about Essential oil use..PLease Please Know that I only use Doterra Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade Oil, these are the best quality oils in the world.. I feed them 5-7 drops of Oregano and cinnamon mixed in water and poured onto a treat such as oatmeal, I do this for 5 days a month and then feed them probiotics for 5 more days, I also give them fish oils. But you can use the bug repellent blend for mites and bug...wounds you can use helichrysum and Melaleuca. I also use roman chamomile and lavender for a wormer. I have had great success with these oils.. I used them to heal my dog from parvo and heal chickens from multiple wounds and also respiratory disease..
