Establishing Spiral Breeding with a Single Related Pair?

this doesn't sound right to me. in rabbits, we start with the 2 original pairs, which was always 2 pure breeds of different breeds. this was the cross. then we took the resulting offspring and bred a male from each pairing to the chosen female from the other set. the first babies are considered F1. you do the pairings 3 times. the resulting offspring in the 3 pairing is considered a pure breed. if you decide you need traits from a different breed you repeat the process crossing the breeds again to get what you need in the next generation. this could takeseveral years to get the process completed.

You can carry on consecutive full sibling matings in chickens in perpetuity as long as you hatch enough chicks each generation. It's one of the big advantages of highly reproductive animals, the potential for a couple hundred offspring per female each year vs. many other animals where you only get one or a handful. The surplus of offspring allows you to establish multiple full sibling pairs each generation, so while some of those pairs may be infertile or have poor hatchability of their eggs you should have other pairs that do well.
