(5 weeks)
Hard to get good pics through hardware cloth but here they are.

When I put the chicks into the run, the pullets were inside their house.
Mrs.Nezbit came out to check them out while they others stayed inside. This went on for quite a while but eventually they started pileing out of the house.
/first.jpg

Emerald now took her turn in checking out the confused chicks.
/2nd.jpg

If Mrs Nezbit is the top of the pecking order This may be a preview if things to come as Mrs Nesbit and Winnie Seem to check each other out.
/3rd.jpg

Hazel comes over to me and lets me know about the new chicks before going to check them out.
/4thhazel.jpg

Esther and Winnie keeping a low profile while the older pullets have a meeting on the matter
/5th.jpg

The chicks are still outside and seem to be having a great time out there, I'll be bringing them in in a couple hours and may add pics at that time.

I'm not real sure who the actual dominant chicken is, of the older ones, I only know Domineak is dominant over Hazel and suspect that Mrs. Nezbit is supreme over all, a completly unchallenged title.

Couple more weeks until the barrier is removed. Check back for the excitement.

Cont. from above post

As the hours past, the excitement of the new chicks seemed to wear off on the pullets, except for Emerald( probably lowest in the pecking order)
/evening1.jpg

Emerald could'nt seem to tear herself away from the new arrivals.
/emeraldand.jpg

Even as time grew near to bring the chicks in for the night, Emerald looked on.
/emeraldand2.jpg

I suspect Emerald is happy about the prospect of gaining some rank

One of the highlights of the day was when Esther would pick up some random thing off the ground and start to peep as she ran around with the thing being chased by Winnie; all the other chickens would run to the wall and watch as she ran around with it;
She did this several times

A couple notes to people who have responded,
Thanks for the many compliments.

Time to post a thread of your pics, and then get your son a baby book.... in that order hahaha

I tried the rice out for the loose poop problem and between that and their time outside, something seems to be making it improve. I havent tried the yogart yet, that will be the next thing. Thanks for the ideas

Day three, having fun but too much space to run, at least when it's time to bring them in for the night.
Its nearly impossible to catch them in this set up, not sure what i'm gonna do.
Unlike my older ones, these two dont seem thrilled about eating scratch out of my hand.
Esther will jump on me and climb up my arm but in as big of an area as that is and without the ability to walk in, its gotten to be a pain.

This is a change log.
Moved the pic that shows the combs at 1 week to the first post.

Added Day 1 shots of Esther to first post.
Added day 1 shots of Winnie to first post.
(7/22) Added Week 2 shots, that were lacking from the thread, to page 2.

Added Index to page 1

Since this is supposed to be a photo progression I figured I should add the day 1 shots, but I started this thread when they were about a week old or so.

And just so that no one feels cheated, here is a pic from today

Esther seems to be getting dark feathers under her beak.
Won’t be long till they are completely feathered out.
Winnie's comb continues to be pinker then I’d like to see at this age.

I did not take them outside today because of rain as well as limited time.

The big problem I'm having with them remains, the Runny stink bombs

I’ve given them rice and their poop seems better but, whenever I go to interact with them, Winnie seems to have the need to drop one of the big ones.
The smell is so bad I just have to leave the room.
The poop is Darkish brown, totally runny and smells terrible.

Any additional suggestions are more then welcome!
They seems healthy other then the poo.

FYI Hazel seems to be doing better today; I'll add more info in that post.

This shot reminds me of rivals at the academy awards.
In the category of best chicken in a non purebreed role.
And the winner is... Esther.
