Estimated Feed Rate

Just as simple as it sounds. About how much feed would 25 Cornish Cross meaties eat until they reach 8-9 weeks of age? Just trying to get an estimation on how much food we're going to have to buy.

I'm guessing 150-200 pounds of food.

Me too , but basing the guess on info I've gathered here and elsewhere to get prepared

I can't find my slips from last year. I downsized to 25 birds in '09. That would have worked out great wouldn't have it.

I don't think I used more than 8 bags to get them to processing (chick starter and broiler feed). So that's 400 lbs.

Under this thread https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=301824 you will see they had consumed over 13 pounds each at 7 weeks , and had consumed over 5 pounds each in the last week . It will work out cheaper per pound to raise CXs , but its not cheap LOL .

What will feed cost you, per 50 lbs?

Depends on your feed method too I would bet. I remove the feed for 12 hours at night. A friend of mine feeds 24/7.
