Etc... Freezer Beef Prices

Well,we had some of that grass finished beef we picked up yesterday for dinner tonight. Best tasting, most tender steak I can remember eating. Ever.

Well worth the price.

We picked ours up today.
The live weight of the steer was 1200, which is around 720 hanging weight.
We bought half the cow - so 360 was ours, after the bone and such was taken out we should have received 216 pounds. (we did get back all the bone and "waste" dogs treats!

We ended up paying around $3.10 per pound.

That is called a weanling. Not worth $1100.

Our butcher charges mileage and a kill fee of $40.00
Then it is $.35 a pound to process the animal.

We just sold 32 pounds of burger for $30.00. Sold 1/4 beef for $1.50 a pound including processing. It weighted 169 pounds.
Pretty light. Had a steer we had processed weight finished at just over 900 pounds.

Too high of a price for too little.
