Hello from a new member. What a lot of back yard chook keepers!
I have four young hens, two black and two red. Recently one of the blacks went broody, or clucky as we say here. She's back to normal now but still looks a bit pale and droopy. The other hens are now picking on her and she's starting to look very ragged.
I have heard that eucalyptus oil diluted 1/10 with water is a deterent to all kinds of pests, and I'm wondering if it will make her feathers taste nasty. Has anyone tried anything like this? I don't want to make her a social pariah, as they seem to get on as a group most of the time, but I'm concerned about her getting cold at nights if she loses any more. (It's winter here now).
Any advice welcome!
