Lockdown here. Nothing happening yet, which is just as well, since I'm working all day. I don't want to miss the excitement!

Hatched around Dec 8th, '11

They look amazing. What a gorgeous flock!

I locked down 12 and have 8 chicks so far. One has crooked toes - which I have never had before - and another seems to have a leg issue, maybe spraddle leg - I'll have to look into it.
The rest are just perfect, and they are all amazingly cute. Unfortunately, I have an Orpington mix swap chick masquerading as an EO. I wasn't home when it hatched and now I can't figure out which one it is! I need to sort them all out today. I've leg banded all of the EOs, though I doubt I will keep records as well as Maggiesdad. (

I am really pleased - and secretly hoping maybe one or two more will hatch! (Today is day 21-22 for them.)

Great hatch. I hope you get a few more too. If it's an Orpington, they tend to feather out very slow, so you should know in a day or two when all the EOs have wings and the Orp looks the same. You might be able to feather sex it at that point too.

for my curled toes I tried to fix it with scotch tape, but it didn't work or i didn't persist long enough. Might be good to leave it curled, if you think they can get along. My girl gets along just fine with it. it's an easy marker. I'm thinking i might not breed mine now that several others have had curled toes. I though mine happened because of a long hatch, but now i'm wondering if it's genetic.

@ChestnutRidgeSpreadSheetWizardWonderBlogger: you can totally fix it! I used the bandaid shoe and 99% of the time it works. Persistence is key and I like to take the shoe off every couple days to let the foot/feet breathe and assess their progress. I'm sure you know it can be a nutch deficiency as well, so give those kids some vits & electrolytes and I bet you'll have straight toes in no time at all. Yay for chickies.

Ran home at lunch and there was a EO chickie in the bator and another hatched while I was there. Also could see 5 more pips
