I love the snow, it's melting though, won't be long before it stays!

I can't wait for the snow...it is so pretty...I know the roads can be bad and kids miss school...but seeing it fall gently down and turn mud to white...lol.. and to think I am hatching eggs...I did have a coro chick die yesterday, I don't know why..it was fine the day before..we have had beautiful weather...ups and downs...I don't like to lose a chick like that...
I saw you said "nice dark yellow legs" so that is the color you want?...I kept looking at the pics and see something new each time..

Snow days are great! I love them! We won't be hatching any til spring!

The legs should be nice and yellow. Some of my birds have white (one of my original trio) and have thrown blue (and even willow), but we got a much bigger proportion of yellow legs this year. Even the yellow legs we had on my originals were paler and it wasn't diet related. I love to see their yellow wellies!

Oh lovely little scruffy pullet,

the yellow fluff always looks funny when they get their real feathers. It hangs around a while too. I see she is on you knee! They love to sit up on people.

They have really put on some feathers and some size since the last pics!

I love seeing them, thanks for posting them!

That is so exciting Young Heritage.

Are you getting chicks or started birds? You will love the nosy little creatures! Just in time for the holidays, you'll be time to play with them! Have a safe trip and great weekend! One of these days I'll get to meet James too!

Chicks, He set 48 eggs for me. 40 made it to lock down. Have not heard how many have hatched

so I am assuming 40 or less is what I will be picking up. All should have hatched by now. Just waiting to find out the final results. Wife and I both are excited to have chicks again. Can't wait till next summer and I can start hatching out some of my own

I actually renovated a 4 by 8 insulated dog house into my brooder coop. It will be just for 0 to 8 week olds. Fully insulated and heated with brooder lamps. Dad built it for his dogs 12 years ago and it is built just like a house, fully trimmed with Siding, insulation, interior plywood, floor joists , and all. I just removed the roof and will be building the vented roof tomorrow and heading to Tennessee tomorrow night and Sunday to get the new residents, lol.
