Euskal Oiloa ( Basque Thread)

Leela is back outside after being attacked by the bigger girls:

You can barely see the wound now She is the one on the right.

Hi all! I hope everyone had a relatively calm winter in spite of the wild weather. It's been absolutely insane here but things are finally looking like SPRING!!! Red buds are starting to bloom, Bradford pears are in bud and the girls are laying eggs like crazy. We've even started to get tired of quiche, souffle and custard.

The Basques have been in their breeding pen for a month now. A dozen eggs just went in the brooder and now I'll finally have some available for anyone interested.

My breeding pen ONLY contains correct Marraduna per the Spanish standard - five hens and one rooster from combined Greenfire Farms and Skyline Poultry foundation stock (plus two non-crested Cream Legbar hens.) Pics and more information is available on the website below.

Oh, and we are now NPIP - AI certified CLEAN.

Happy Spring to All!

Hi all,

I'm still reading through this thread, only another 215 pages and I'll be caught up. Thinking this may be a good breed to replace the hatchery egg machines we have been using. Thanks for the referral Ron, back to reading.
