Hello everyone! I am a new owner of Basque chicks. I became interested in them because they are supposed to be a pet-friendly breed. And this is quite true in my experience. Here are some pictures of my three chicks, taken a few days ago. They are about 4.5 weeks old. I think I have two pullets and one roo. What do you think?
Roo?
Pullets?
Same two chicks as in the second pic, but with a better view of their combs. The chick on the left has a bigger comb that is pinkish, but its feather color is that of a girl - I think, and hope that both are girls.
I'll bet a moldy donut they're both girlsHmmmm, I don't know, that pink comb on the dark chick at 4.5 wks look like BOY to me! :/ Girls stay tight and yellow in the comb for several more weeks.Hello everyone! I think Maggiesdad may take the bet if it is for a box of Twinkies.![]()
I would say you have a nice trio there. 2 pullets and a cockerel, I have had some hens with larger head gear before, her feather colour is pullet.Hello everyone! I am a new owner of Basque chicks. Thanks. I love this breed. It is my favorite and I have tried a bunch. The chicks scramble to come to me when they see me, especially the two pullets. They seem to think I am their mom. I also like the fact that they lay X-large to jumbo eggs.I would say you have a nice trio there. 2 pullets and a cockerel, I have had some hens with larger head gear before, her feather colour is pullet.![]()
