! So glad Susan has found us too, she is just as crazy about these. Sequin and Sparkle are beautiful birds and her new roo is big and is lightly barred! We have some direction from the original importer Eric Rivard on how to breed him and what to keep. The roo and the source, Black Horse Ranch's birds are one of the least related to mine (3 years back now), no mean feat to find as we have shared these whenever we could, like you do.....

That's a beautiful hen BTW! They do fade in the sun a bit. I was looking at a pic of Blondie age 6 months or so of age last night and she was that colour, now she is way more blonde. Mind you I'd rather let them out and be free and fade, but it's neat to see them darker.

James;
I hope I made the list! I'm way excited to try these guys, even though I already have too many chickens (and ducks and turkeys and pigs, etc.) As I've tweeted to you before, I currently have Barred & Partridge Rocks, Australorps, Welsumers, Blue Andalusians, Blue Jersey Giants, Black and Blue Langshans, Silver Grey Dorkings, Mottled Javas, New Hampshires, Black Leghorns, Anconas, Buff Cornish and Speckled Sussex...I'd like to get that down to 4 or 5 breeds and focus on improving them. It's all about dual purpose with me, I want large or extra large eggs and a good table bird as well. If they are Heritage, so much the better. I'm still trying to get my hands on Good Delawares, but I don't want just common hatchery stock. As I understand it they should be large birds who are also very good layers. I'm hoping that the EO's are equal to the challenge, as well!

Welcome to BYC Rexceptional !! You won't be disappointed! Skeffling Lavender Farm (claire) has been really working hard on research and she knows others with Euskal Oiloas. She knows what a good breed this is and hopefully others with Euskal Oiloas will soon join this thread and start spreading the word and getting these birds noticed.

Whew. Just read the whole thread. Between the storm, my daughter's birthday, A NEW PUPPY (!!) And father's day, I haven't had much time! Sky, whjere do your birds come from? If they are not related to mime, I'd like to look into importing some eggs.

There's lots of great info and pics on here! Skyline has so many EOs. Congratulations on the new puppy Susan. Hope you had a good day. It's been busy here the in-laws here for a Fathers day weekend.

I did have enough time to move my broodies and chicks to an outdoor tractor and in the sunshine, the two Euskal oiloa chicks look like they are both females. At 2 weeks they are getting their little red shoulder feathers. I will try and get a pic tomorrow!
