So out of Thursdays hatch, 12 healthy chicks.

I thought surely I'd get a better hatch rate the second time around.

Of the 19 locked down, one died after pipping, the other six never did anything.

Oh well - off to take care of the

Congrats to you! I have 4 out of my hatch....waiting to hear when I can get more eggs..one of my has a not so good leg..but I hope it will get better...four isn't enough! lol...so far they are looking good..

I moved all of my EO chicks to their new home outside. Nice insulated brooder coop just for 0 to 8 week olds. Hope they do well on the first cold night. They have a brooder light of course.

I put paper towels on top of the wire then my eggs. Its a lot cleaner that way and takes care of the problem with there feet getting caught.

Well I'm in Lanai enjoying the sun while my best friend is hatching my Basques!! She's a great surrogate mom. Today is hatch day and they actually started hatching yesterday!

We have 22 hatched! 6 more pipped and 6 doing nothing yet, but again today is the official hatch day!! woohoo they even survived a trip in the car to her house after a day of lockdown!

Oh the dark ones are silver penciled plymouth rocks from my breeding flock.

I had the same problem once (although I opened the incubator and the rest got stuck... crazy day of assisting hatches ensued...). In part, I had that problem because I place plastic shoebox lids under the wire during the lockdown to lift the eggs to the same level that they were when in the turner. Now, I roll up paper towels to make little "bumpers" that I wedge between the wall and wire and haven't had that happen again. Good luck to your little guy.
