One thing I have noticed beside the unbeatable friendliness is the size of their heads are larger than normal, thick necks. This is actually brought up in a magazine I think the name is "The Poultry mag" where a judge is talking about the importance of the head and neck size being important. I think my mag is in the car or has been missplaced for now but when they talk about the SOP in judging my eyes glaze over like when I get a Dr, bill or my checking statement. Now they DO NOT mention EO's in this article but just the head size and me comparing EO to my other chickens I've noticed something different. I REALLY hope someone who knows more about this can pick up on this subject. I have missed this thread terribly but I have looked a little here and there and I'm SOOO glad to see pics and the interest in this breed!!

I set my Skyline eggs Friday. So maybe now I might have something to add this thread.

19 days to countdown . . .

Skeffling - is that normal for EOs to wait 'till moult to get the black feathering? I love, love, love Sonny Jim!

Hello from Arkansas! I am setting my Skyline eggs today and am sooooo excited. (thanks James!!) I have read all I can about this breed and it seems perfect for me. I am glad to see that Skyline is also selling chicks, just in case.....

I am looking forward to hatching these beauties and seeing firsthand all of the wonderful traits of the EO!

I have found these pdfs very helpful in determining what really is under all the feathers and fluff...
The third page of this one discusses skull width.

The others are great as well.

Thanks, those are great articles. I never really noticed skull width until my EO's. How do I sex my EO's? By comb or feathers? If I only have 1 roo, I better take care of him so I can have more! I will try to get better pics.
