Euskal Oiloa ( Basque Thread)

Here are the others. I was taking body, top, wing, and comb shots of each - too many to post here, but this is a mix. They all have really nice, yellow combs, so I am hoping to get bright yellow shanks as well. The feather length sexing the old timers were teaching me this morning sometimes conflicted with the feather color sexing we have theorized. I'm keeping records on it all, so when I see what I have, I can see if I can see any correlations. I probably should have looked for feather length earlier, on day 3 or so like 1muttsfan.

Very cute. much different from any of my chicks. might end up being one of the funky colors. I think boy now.
Me, too. This is what I am thinking (or, um, hoping...

Please no more than 50% boys...):
Yellow - boy
Orange - girl
Blue R - girl
Blue L - girl
Green - boy
Pink - boy (I accidentally wrote "girl" at first, just automatic after the word "pink." Oh, boy,.. but I fixed it.)

the blue orpington and the coloring on your EOs looks great so far. I see some perfectly yellow little shanks sticking out of the grass...

I'm not sure about orange, but both blues look like girl coloring. I knew I could count on you to keep good records.

Purple 'leg band' has more black marks and white legs. Maybe he will turn purple if the gets more of that gray mixed with the red. Green 'leg band' is more gold/brown and bright yellow legs. I hope he fills out and has nice body type. My pullet has blue legs. :( but she is the sweetest and loves to cuddle. With blue legs, I'm not sure if breeding her will be a good idea.

I have no idea the sexes of my chicks at this point! I have some like orange, at least a couple like green, and at least one like blue. I've been checking out the size of their legs, and I think I have at least 3 boys.
I think my late-hatcher runt is going to make it! He is much more active and eating well now. Still very tiny. I'm convinced he'll be a boy, just because I want him to be a girl. :p

and we have a Basque egg in California..I was greeted by it this morning confirming my suspicions that they were getting close..I've had it in my office ever since and i've been staring at it all day :)
