It's great to hear about the German New Hampshire chicks hatching.

. I had a great time on the Marans thread yesterday. I hope they can get some better hatches there. I thought hatching 7 out of 13 was bad for those, but it seems like a bit above average. I am beginning to feel challenged to hatch some more Marans to see If I can do better...I guess I am on the right thread.

I love my EO Basque chicks too. They have so much going on.

The Crested Cream Legbars that hatched last Saturday are doing fine and have no deformities. They did have poopy buts but I gave them some chick grit, washed them and they are looking fine today. They are eating and drinking too. I now have 3 pullets and 2 cockerals between the two hatches. The older ones are almost three weeks old and the pullet is starting to get her crest.

Three GNH chicks out and 3 more pips at the moment! I am so relieved.


Thanks for your advice about moving the chicks out with the EcoGlow, Ron. I moved them out to a 4x4 with a nice-sized run with the EcoGlow yesterday. They loved it!!! They went out into the run today and had an awesome time scratching in the leaves, digging up some worms, and eating the little sprouts coming up in that pen since its been unoccupied for a few months. I'll need to get some pictures soon - they are so healthy, handsome, and happy. I might be looking at one white male (green), one strongly barred and probably homozygous male (yellow), and it may be that my gray one (orange) is a girl... the other two have larger combs and a more roo-ish stance. Hmmm. I think they are all just beautiful and bold... loving the EOs so far.

Still not sure if Orange is a boy or a girl (leaning towards pullet), but the EOs are soooo friendly. It's really funny how different they all are from the lone Leghorn that is with them.


I'm really curious to see how Yellow feathers out with his dark barring. I wonder if Green will stay white or get any more color as he feathers out.

Wow 8!!! I'm so excited for you. That's a lot of chickens you have over there.
Your EOs are looking great. The colors are so different from the ones I have. I think that top photo is a pullet.
Looks like you have a pure white chick there. My white guy had early "splash" blotches.

I missed that the grey one was an EO. Looks like a female. really interesting color. I can't wait to see what see looks like in a few weeks.
Is that black chick Leghorn?

Adding updated pics of our EOs.

To the far left is a lavender ameraucana with two golden EO pullets in the middle On the bottom are the two "normal" color cockerels (their gold barring is hard to see in this picture) and to the far right, upper corner is the red barred cockerel. Loving the color on the red barred boy!

I have three pictures to share of the 11 I hatched three weeks ago. I am not trying to guess gender yet. They will reveal their gender in their own time.







They are way to active for me to get good pictures. I had several more but they were blurry. I will try to get some later.

Oh my, I am in LOVE with that speckled hen with the nice bowl shaped body. She is just STUNNING.

honestly, i don't know where they are from! there is a person here in our huge city that just likes to order rare eggs and hatch them to sell the chicks. she(or he, not sure) is not even allowed to have chickens due to hoa, so the chicks are given to a breeder of show ameraucanas to sell. i saw the CL ad and drove out there twice and snatched them all up! having some mille fleur in there leads me to believe they came from james, i had one other pullet that looked exactly like the mille that THAT BLOKE has. she was sold and was oh so sweet, but 11 of these chicks cost me a small fortune so some had to go.

I have found the EO's as hard to sex as Delawares, but I do see some developing barring (they are also Easter hatch chicks) so I assume those are going to be the boys. I hope that out of the 17 I have left that I get some really nice birds.
