Euskal Oiloa ( Basque Thread)

Hi guys! Johnny is my boyfriend (still waiting for my ring! :p) He fell down the stairs on Friday and broke his tibia and fibula. Because he waited 3 says to go to the hospital, he had to wait for the swelling to go down for surgery. He just got out of surgery and is recovering. He has to do another surgery next week but he's ok!! Thanks for your warm wishes and thoughts!

I got to spend some time with my chicks early this morning. Ahh they're so cute!!! The Pita Pinta roos finally got their wattles in. All 5 of my baby cockerels look like little gentleman. I think they need to dress up for Halloween in mini-tuxedos! Lol

Hope Johnny heals fast! i had the same kind of break (tib/fib, just above the ankle) in college, & they did surgery to put screws in to hold them together -- i was back out of the cast & off crutches in about 6 weeks.

and by some odd coincidence of timing, i managed to break a bone in my left hand this weekend -- nothing serious, but it does make catching up with my almost-4-weeks-old chicks somewhat more challenging!!

Ron, how is the little Basque chick that you hatched from my birds doing?? Any new pictures?

I might break down and hatch some myself once we get back from the moutains. : )

Anyone want to swap Basque eggs? I would probably be ready for them around the end of this month. We'll be leaving Saturday, and won't be back until the following Saturday. So would need some time to unpack, rest, get my incubator up and running, etc. If anyone might be interested, PM me. : )

Oh, by the by I have 7 Basque eggs available if anyone is interested. These need to ship out ASAP.

Later

Hi Aspen,

She is doing fine and now has two Trader Joes chicks to hang out with.

I will get pictures soon.

Poor guy! Best wishes to Johnny for a speedy recovery. I cannot even image the pain. I broke a toe once and thought I was dying.. LOL

There's nothing like a little chick time to put things in perspective.

Awesome! How old is she now?

She is 2.5 weeks old.

Here she is with the Trader Joes chicks:

The Leghorns are a week old. She already has the girl colors.
.
this is a front shot--I think she fell into the water fountain...

Very cute photo of the Basque girl with the Trader Joe's chicks! The TJ chicks look rather scared of that tough Basque girl.

She's adorable!! Her wings are beautiful. Nice and dark!
None of my eggs hatched.
I am kind of disappointed but whatever lol.

Are you hatching any of your own EO eggs Ron? If not and you have extra I'd love to hatch some. I need to somehow get my EO numbers up and start pheno finding! Lol :D

Quote: Yes, she is lovely. The Leghorns get along well with her. They were all a bit put off by the guide beam on the camera. Makes them jump a bit.

Hatching shipped eggs is always iffy.

I am going to try weekend visits when my three are ready for hatching. It should take about 6 weeks but I will wait until they are laying 1.75 ounce eggs. I will get some to you then.

Yes, the cool kids are using Tapatalk 2 now...
