Even With The Power Outage I Have Pips - Sebbies

Well, I managed to hatch four by 5:30 this morning. Went back to bed and got up to check them and two died.

So, I have two live babies and so far four more pips and two more moving.

Well, at this point I am very sad. I have ended up with one live baby so far.

I have four eggs left in the incubator, three with pips and one still moving about inside.

This has been the worst loss I have suffered with my sebbies. Three have died after hatching within 2-3 hours and two have died in the shell.

What the heck!?? This has been a terrible year so far with my eggs, too...(shipped houdans!)

I got 19 and only had 4 hatch...11 made it through two candling and the other 7 quit early....so far, my sebbies haven't laid this spring...I check twice a day, too! LOL I hope you start having better luck with your birds. The male I have from you is very sweet--he either needs a new home or a goose of his own. Of course, I'm thinking he needs another goose or TWO! LOL

I hope the others hatch out for you!

Jean- I had the same thing happen with my December clutch of Sebastopols- incubation issues, one hatched, died a couple days later. A girl too,.

I hope your next hatch goes much better.

I am getting fertility now, and I have a few sebbies in the bator but the Buff Americans are the ones laying heavily right now. The dewlaps haven't even started.

I have three babies now. One hatched early this morning and is still hanging in and looks good. Just had another get out of the shell about 15 minutes ago and is still in the incubator drying.

One egg left, no pip; just movement inside the shell. I don't know if I sat one a couple days late or not.........

Hopefully I will have time for pics tomorrow between wrapping up boxes of eggs.
