Just had the dog out to take care of business and a nice pack of Yotes were tuning up. I'd say no more than 3/4 to 1 mile out. Have pics over the summer of a loner and it didn't look like it missed any meals.

I don't fire scare shots, I'm more of a BANG, halt type of guy when it comes to Yotes.Ahh the call of the wild...they will try to lure your dogs out to eat them. Do you live somewhere you can fire a gun? That usually scared them off in my experience
If you can fire a gun legally where you live (I can't) and they're legal to shoot where you are I say do it now. My dad accidentally shot one right between the eyes by firing down a hill into the dark in their general directionI don't fire scare shots, I'm more of a BANG, halt type of guy when it comes to Yotes.
Our closest neighbor is a 1/4 mile away separated by thick cedar swamp and pines nearest road behind us is 2mi away with thick woods and scrub under growth with no access I have a 1 hundred yard range in the back of our 6 acres as do all our neighbors. Gunfire is a common occurrence. You can tell what is being shot by the sound of the bang.If its legal, "Yer' Honr. He needed kill'n"
If its not, don't get caught.
In either case, don't shoot in the direction of your neighbors and be absolutely certain of your backstop.
Fortunate. I only have about 200 degrees of safe directions to take the shotOur closest neighbor is a 1/4 mile away separated by thick cedar swamp and pines nearest road behind us is 2mi away with thick woods and scrub under growth with no access I have a 1 hundred yard range in the back of our 6 acres as do all our neighbors. but they're never completely eliminated from the landscape. Just wish they'd do a better job of eating the feral pigs!
