Hiya. Newbie here, on the Colorado plains. It's 7 degrees right now, got in the negatives during the night. I have two chickens (eggers) in a crate in my bedroom because one kept getting picked on, and the other to keep her company. Thinking both will go back with the others in a few minutes (moved the chickens to the workshop where it's not heated or insulated but they are out of the wind and snow).

And I'd love to get PMs... I'm chicken obsessed and LOVE talking about them (ok, bragging).

Tex-it is alot easier to have them in one coop. I have a goofball coop of all sizes I get 1 eggs from 9 a day but I dont care Ilove them all-they are some of my oldest gals and they rule the roost to all new comers. I leave their door open all Spring Summer and Fall and allow any of my chickens in there-whoever chooses to spend the night in there is fine with me as long as I know where they are safe and sound!!

late morning to all -- Tex it was 22 here too. Brrrr is right. We have sunshine now, and the ice is melting off the trees. We have a huge tower over the office and when ice falls it sounds like bowling balls hitting the roof. a couple felt like there were coming on through. I had to chip the run door opening this morning so i could let my girls out into the run, they have been locked in the coop for two days. the game birds stayed in the garage last night, they weren't about to sleep on icy branches again last night.

I need to brave the frozen tundra and check on critters. Poor things, I wish I could scoop them all up and bring them in. Kenny would walk in, turn around and walk right back out. Its official, my wife has completely lost it!!
