I'll have to get a pic of the bator before and after the repair. Did I ever tell y'all I am NOT a cat person, unfortunately everyone else in our family LOVE cats, I'd rather a dog any day.

Morning ladies. Bad day yesterday. DH left the dogs out and fell asleep. They (I think mostly his stupid puppy) attacked my goats...killed 2 of them and wounded 2 more. They've never done anything like that before, but I guess it can happen any time. They killed my big Nubian girl (my favorite of course) and one of my younger Nigis.

They wounded the Nubian's doeling (just a couple scratches) and one of my Nigerian does (nasty neck wounds) who is due to kid in 9 days. I took the wounded Nigi into the clinic and cleaned her up, got her some meds, etc. I think she'll be ok...she's eating and drinking today. Sigh. Now I have to figure out what to do with the dog. Sigh. DH said he'd get rid of him, but I hate being one of those people that gets rid of a dog that easily. I think we may build him an outside run so he can still go out without us having to watch his every move.

On a positive note, I have fluffy butts due tomorrow. Different colors of Marans.

Hope you ladies are having a good weekend!

Yesterday I cleaned out the chicken coops, ick, and put a bookshelf together in Ed's shop. Today I get to put a wood floor in the largest coop, it really needs one, and have to go to the store for another bookshelf for the house and hopefully some plywood to finish off another coop.

I'm so sorry, Kelly. Do you think it was because they were all out together? pack mentality and all? I've seen dogs do things in a pack that they would never have done alone or even in pairs. We had a pack of people's pet dogs roaming and attacking animals, including other dogs. It wasn't pretty. Most of those dogs were just fine alone, though. It's a shame that you lost your goats that way. It's harder, I think, than having one get sick or die of natural causes.

Home & absolutely exhausted. I've driven over 1000 miles in the last few days and I am ready to drop. Spring Break is over as of tonight and I am not rested at all -- I'm more tired than when break began and still behind. Sigh....

OMG .. and DH is still LIVING !?!?!

You don't have to re-home the dog, really .. it just takes diligence. We have a dog that would kill all my chickens, if given the chance ... but in a year of managing chickens and dog .. we've not lost one (to my own dogs) ..

Dogs are ALWAYS supervised when chickens are out .. chickens are NEVER out when dogs are unsupervised. Period.

PITA .. but works.

I'm so sorry...
