Tex I agree with you. If it were me I would opt for the full removal and get it gone, plus at 61 she is going to have perky's again -- I think they are going to redo both to match.

thanks for your prayers, she is a strong woman and I know she will make the best decision for her. I just hate it for her and all others who are dealing with cancer or any sickness.

Glad to hear your daughter is on her way. I bet she loved her adventure.

If she is a non-smoker, she can have the reconstruction started if not done at the same time. If she is a smoker they will not do it ever. It's difficult to be without a breast. I'm flatter than any man on 1 side. Actually concave as they had to remove some pectoral muscle. My DH loves me very much but he's a breast man and there's nothing there. The physical scar is not bad. The emotional scar is almost impossible to live with - but you are living - which I understand is better than the alternative. It doesn't matter if they match, if they are perky, big or small. It will matter later that they are "them" not "it".
The doctors' who have intuition, are small everyday angels, sent from God, to protect us. I say do the mastectomy and give her a book: Dr. Loves' Breast Book. It about 600 pages of small print. I devoured it with color coded highlighters and color coded tabs in under 2 days. It's required reading for all who go through this or are close to some one.
Please encourage her, if she is to have the mastectomy, that she have reconstruction of some sort. Mastectomy will give a peace of mind.
I will pray for your friend.
From one who knows and currently suffers.

I will check out the book online, thanks for the referral. Also Charmed referred me to the Christina Applegate story. I will get information for her on both of these.

She is a non smoker. The doctor says she is at stage zero. which is awesome they caught it so very soon. she has ductal carcinoma. she is having an MRI this morning to see if there are any other areas that show concern. If it is just the one area she said she wants to go with the lumpectomy and the 5 weeks of radiation. if there are other areas, the doctor pretty much told her yesterday to plan on a mastectomy.

When Linda left the doctor's office yesterday, he handed her a purse from www.thelydiaproject.org

Robin thank you for the text last night. She was on my mind this morning when I woke up. Again she is very lucky to have your support and now the wonderful support of others on this board. Paradise my heart goes out to you as well.
