We aren't getting snow here and you can keep it thank you very much! It is very cold, but it looks like the sun is trying to peep out this afternoon.

You got to talk to your daughter!

And how are things in Thailand? And how is your other daughter getting along with her houseguest?

I have hatched before and it is so exciting!! I am right now resisting the urge to put anything in the bator. It is not anywhere near spring, so I am okay with waiting. Although Colton did mention yesterday that he would like to have some more turkeys this spring.

I hope you are feeling well soon!

I haven't felt good the last few days, but I am not saying anymore about it. I have enough people nagging me to go to the doctor! I feel better today and will be fine. Thank goodness it is Friday and hopefully tomorrow will go smooth so I can start a relaxing weekend!

Thanks Michelle:D

Colton is brave for turkeys-Dh wont let me do that because hes not into fresh chicken meat to begin with let alone spending alot of money feeding a few turkeys-just to butcher them after spending 50$ a pop for them to stay alive..Im afraid teh bigger the bird the more attached Ill get.Im a sucker and is my youngest-especially if its a funny sweet bird. I wonder though If I hatch out a few and keep them in a specific pen just for eating and grazing until they are old enough to butcher-no emotions attached? How do you do it?

Right now we have 3 turkeys. The two big ones (a tom and a hen) are back with the chickens. I don't go out there much or take care of them since it is Colton's job. I look in on them, but that is about it. When we are in back splitting wood the tom sticks his head out and makes funny noises that cracks me up, but I haven't really spent enough time with them to be attached. Now Betsy is a different story, she is the one that lives with the goats in the front yard. When something happens to her, I will be heartbroken and it is understood that she gets to live her life out. When she was really young she injured her leg and it goes out from under her from time to time. She lived in the garage in a cage for a while and then just ran around in there when she outgrew the cage. Finally Hubby just stuck her in with the goats and she has been there since. She isn't near as big as the other 2, but she eats goat grain and has to fight the girls for her meals. However, I am afraid if she gets too heavy her legs won't be able to hold her up at all.

oh what a cute picture! So the other turkeys will be butchered? I think I would do nothing but feed and make sure I keep them safe until butcher day-its the only way I could do it:-( How old is your girl? Oh and those goats cuuuuuttteeee!!!

Michelle- Sounds like you had a wonderful dog. My parents kept a Tri-color female who was born the same year as my older brother and a Blue Merle male that was my age. They both lived till they were 12. My Mom let me sleep outside with Kyle the night he passed. I didn't want him to be alone and somehow knew it was his last night
hugs.gif
. I miss them both sometimes but know they had really good lives. Ed is threatening to take me to the Dr if I don't quit coughing soon
hide.gif
, he knows I HATE going to the Dr. Glad you're starting to feel better
hugs.gif
. Betsy is so pretty, sounds like she's a lil fighter. Those goats are adorable too.

Jazzy- We only have 2 stores somewhat close to us also, they're both co-ops
thumbsup.gif
and I've been pretty happy with the one closest to us. I have no idea if they sell duck food though. I really hope that changing their feed helps as many as possible of them
fl.gif
. We're getting into the teens here in the next few days. Your puppy is sooooo cute. I really like shelties too.

Charmed- Wish your hubby a very Happy Birthday from us please.I have only raised day-old, gotta build me a bator soon
wee.gif
. So glad you finally heard from your daughter
clap.gif
. Hope she's enjoying Thailand, I think I'd go crazy if one of mine was so far away. I almost did when my baby bro was in Iraq, I practically raised him till I left home and we're really close. Now I have another brother in Afghanistan
hide.gif
.

sonew- I hope you feel better soon
hugs.gif
. Corbin, Ethan, Amy and I still have gunk in our chests and the boys are havin some sinus issues too. I'm hopin it's partly due to the change in geography and that they'll get better soon
fl.gif
. I've been lucky about not dropping eggs. My son, the clutz, has dropped a few though. I couldn't really get mad though cause he was feedin them and checkin for eggs some when I was really sick
love.gif
. Wow, I've never heard of a windsheild bustin like that
hu.gif
, freaky. Glad you have coverage for it though. I'm glad the girls chipped in to help
woot.gif
. My girls fuss about the smell too
idunno.gif
, usually about the time the chicks are getting big enough to go to the tractor
tongue2.gif
. I found putting the water up on a whip cream type container helped to keep them from knockin it over. We'll be spending the next few days organizing and the boys are gonna be learning all our rules, their Dad let em get away with a LOT
th.gif
. They're really good sweet boys though so I can't stay upset with em long. We're thinking of trying some turkeys, I'm reading up on them and checking prices. I wonder how well they'd sell if I sold em live, I don't wanna deal with all the permits and stuff to dress em out for people yet

Hope you're having a great day today.

We're doing good here, boys are watching nickjr, and my kids are doing what I call free learning today. They get to study whatever they are interested in. I usually do that on the days that public schools are out so they don't gripe about the "regular" school kids being off. I like it cause they are learning research skills that way too
thumbsup.gif
. Ed and Amy are off to the store to get a few supplies in case we're iced/snowed in for a few days. The lil ones wanted to help me feed the animals this morning, they are sooo sweet. I was a meanie though and wouldn't let em. Once it starts warming up a bit I'll let em. Ethan was soooo excited about all our animals. Corbin enjoyed showing his little brother where they all live and telling them who was who yesterday

We got them last spring, maybe around the beginning of April. I think they were his Easter presents. He is going to keep the pair for now to see if she lays any eggs he can hatch this year. If not, he will probably butcher and buy more anyway. It is so cute to see Betsy sleeping on the girls when it is really cold out. And when we feed she makes a lot of loud, cute noises and jumps right in the middle of the bowl and holds her ground pretty good until Bella head butts her out of it! We usually end up feeding in 2 bowls to cut down on the fighting though. Sometimes she sticks her head through the fence and tries to share food with the geese and ducks. The others are huge in size compared to her. Strangely though, she is not very people friendly. She runs to the fence when she sees the food bucket coming, but she doesn't want to be held or petted.

Are you getting nasty weather too? We are lucky that it all went south of us. Just cold, cold, cold! I am not sure I will ever thaw out!

Sounds like it is very active in your household now that everyone is settling in!

I am thinking about leaving work early this afternoon. I am pretty well caught up and need to go by the grocery store, so I may call it a day in just a bit. Unfortunately, I have to be back in bright and early tomorrow!

Yup
hide.gif
, Ed wasn't able to go to work today either
idunno.gif
. I don't think he's too unhappy though cause he really missed home and I'm glad to have him and the kiddos home safe and sound before this icky weather got here. We have an active house for sure, will be a bit calmer after the boys start headstart next week, but then I'll be driving Amy around job hunting while Laura subs for me here
