Ever feel lonely when you dont have any PM's waiting for you?

I am feeling a little better except for the ear thing. Just stand on my left side, I can't hear you on the right! I had soup again for lunch and thinking about making potato soup for supper. My stomach has settled down, but I don't want to rock the boat! I am also tired again. Whatever it is, it is zapping me. Darned sinuses anyway!

You had better make sure it's not that H1N1 virus. I don't know what the symptoms are but you have to be careful with that stuff!!

I am feeling much better today, ear still a little clogged, but not much pain in it. I am keeping food down, but haven't had anything but soup for 2 days until Destiny just brought me a couple of chocolate donuts! Bless her heart and they are really good!!

We got lots of rain last night, but forgot to check the gauge this morning. Sounds like maybe it will clear off for the pep rally tonight, just be a little on the cool side. And definitely chilly tomorrow for the parade and game!

Still waiting on the phone. Colton went up there Monday and it hadn't been brought over from the other store yet. Hubby went back to check yesterday because they hadn't called him, and they told him the girl loaded them in her van when they came in instead of putting them in the store. Of course she was off yesterday, so it would be here today.

I am still not holding my breath and plan to make a trip to Chillicothe this weekend to see if they are more helpful down there!

Good morning all!

Michelle I am glad you are feeling better, I hope you continue to improve.

Just been a little busy here. I am painting shelves for my kitchen and DH put a window in our solid front door. Looks fantastic!

Also I don't remember if I told you about the friend that let me strip her apple tree. So I have been making apple sauce, crisp, pie.... Yesterday she gave me the last of them as it is freezing here at night now. I would like to make an apple cake. Do any of you have a recipe for that or any thing else I can put apples in?

Thanks! We used to have an apple tree. The fall Colton was born I made applesauce out the ears! Never did it again! A few years later we had to cut the tree down to build our new garage. Last year I brought home tons of apples from the tree at church, quartered and froze them for the chickens to eat through the winter. Anyway, I like my apples raw or just applesauce or applebutter. However, a girl I work with made a german chocolate apple cake or something like that not too long ago that looked really good. She is not here today, but if you are interested, I will ask her for the recipe tomorrow.

Good Morning everyone! Glad to hear your feeling better, Michelle! I hope you continue to improve! Didn't get the tics yesterday. Can't believe it is taking so long. That's our USPS. I would have probably gotten them sooner if I lived in Brazil!

Chickenchick...I haven't tried this recipe yet but I had copied it from somewhere. It sounded real good.

Fresh Apple Cake

5 baking apples, cored, peeled and sliced
2 t. cinnamon
2-1/2 c. plus 5 T. sugar, divided
3 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 t. salt
4 eggs, beaten
1 c. oil
2 t. vanilla extract
1/3 c. orange juice
1-1/2 t. baking powder
1-1/2 t. baking soda

Toss apples with cinnamon and 5 tablespoons sugar; set aside. Mix remaining ingredients together; blend well. Pour 1/3 of the batter into a greased and floured 10" tube pan; layer with half of the apples. Repeat layers and pour remaining batter on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 1-1/2 to 1-3/4 hours, or until a toothpick inserted in the center removes clean. Cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes; invert tube pan and remove to cool completely. Frost with Brown Sugar Icing. Serves 12 to 15.

Brown Sugar Icing:
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar, packed
1/4 c. milk
2 c. powdered sugar
Combine all ingredients and blend until smooth.

You can't beat the smell of apple butter cooking in the crockpot though!

If you do not get them, I will send out another set Monday. I think we still have some left. I mailed them at 10am Saturday morning along with some to my sister. I need to ask her if she got hers...Now I am working on a trade with the American Royal...

Thank you so much Charmed, that sounds really good. Michelle, if you can get the chocolate one I will try it too!

The gal that gave me the apples also took 3 roosters off my hands yesterday. Her entire flock was wiped out by dogs. I didn't have any hens to spare as I had just sold her 2 but I jumped at the chance to give her those extra roos. One was a barred rock mix, BIG boy! The other 2 were silkie/cochin cross and really cute. They still have baby crows even!! The chickens are actually her daughters. She was excited!

I will ask her for the recipe tomorrow and get it to you soon after!

I sometimes send my extra roosters to my old history teacher back home. She has a very elderly neighbor that keeps losing hers by getting hit or predators and is constantly asking for more, so I pack them up and make the 40 minute trip to deliver! I hadn't seen that teacher for over 20 years, but Mom had been in touch with her and I had 2 beautiful EE roosters to rehome and had her ask if she wanted them. She kept them, but sends the others to the neighbor. I hate that they don't last very long there, but if it keeps the older lady active, it is worth the cause!

ok my peeps-I have a very bad day infront of me! I cant give details in this post but I feel so sick to my stomach and have done nothing but pray and try and act like Im clueless today:-( say a prayer for me -

I tried to post my extra roosters on Craigs list a few times and it ALWAYS got flagged. However other people post them all the time! So I just gave up on that idea. Its great that your roosters are making somebody happy, even if just for a while.

Thank you for the link. That sounds really good. I plan to buy some fruit pectin and make some. DH won't eat it but DS and I, oh and my MIL will love it too! I have never bought pectin before. I assume it is found in a grocery store? Any idea where?

No hurry on the chocolate cake recipe. I know you have plenty of catching up to do after being so sick.
