Michelle I hope you make some progress on your room this weekend. I hope the rest of you have a great weekend planned too.

DH just made up his mind this morning that we are going camping tomorrow so I won't "see" you until Monday. I spent the morning making things for camping. I do as much ahead of time as I can so I can relax more while we are there. I made a macaroni salad, an Italian pasta salad, baked beans, bean dip and lemon bars.

The great news is we will leave where we are camping on Saturday evening to meet my x and pick up my son.

He has been with his Dad for a few weeks.

Michelle thanks for calling him handsome. He is such a remarkable young man. He has overcome a lot in the past 2 years. Just before that pic was taken the principal had just finished his speech in which he included some very sweet things about my son and how he overcame is disabilities (from the accident) with the help of his friends. He stated how proud he was of Raymond, his staff and the understanding compassionate students.

That's why I am just staring at him in that picture. My heart was swelling with pride.

Thanks for all the ideas guys! Yes, it will be automotive repair in general. They are looking at a place in Jamesport, a huge Amish community about 12 miles away. I told him he had better get his "small buggy" repair certification!

It is all still in the beginning stages, looking for a shop and trying to get it figured out.

Chickenchick, Have a good time camping! We haven't done that for so long and I do kinda miss it.

I took off at noon yesterday and got some stuff done on my closet. We got the floor painted and started on the shelves. It was just so darn hot in the garage to stay out there very long. We had the wonderful idea to paint them before we brought them in, but didn't figure in the heat to get them done! Plus, hubby's garage cat chose yesterday to be friendly and want to be in the middle of everything! On a typical day she has nothing to do with Destiny or I. Hubby was inspired when he got home and got some more mudding done. Unfortunately, I won't be home much this weekend to get any more done. I painted the floor brown and really, really liked it. I am trying to talk him into doing the whole room that way and put down rugs, but I don't know if I will win that arguement.

So, tonight I am going to spend the evening with my sis. We are going to see Time Traveler's Wife and go out to eat. It will be my birthday celebration. She lives about 25 miles away. Tomorrow morning the kids and I and my parents are heading to the Missouri State Fair. We are meeting some friends of ours down there and going to check out poultry!

Good Morning! I have figured out that racoons are like roaches. When you see one, there are a million more hiding. Last night I looked out the back door and there stood a coon looking in the window. I let the dog out and he ran him up a tree and onto the chicken house. I didn't wake my DH to shoot him as I did not want holes in my roof!

Why, for the love of Pete, did God , in his infinite wisdom, give racoons thumbs?

I had another coop break-in and this time he unhooked the latch to get in. We had to get a spring loaded latch to keep the little &%%^#& out of there!

I have 2 hens now that think they should roost on the back porch! Caught 2 more coons this weekend! The hens are safe now unless they find another way to get in.
How was everyone's weekend? It rained all day Sunday here. Isn't BYC wonderful! I can't wait to get on and see who posted what. I have gotta get the internet at home!

Good grief! You must have a coon magnet in your yard or something! I haven't seen any for a while, they must have heard about you and all headed south!

It rained here Saturday night, yesterday evening and it is raining now. Between Sat and yesterday afternoon we had over 3 inches of rain and probably another inch since!

We had a wonderful time at the state fair. It rained some, but not enough to ruin the whole day and it wasn't terribly hot either, so no complaints there. We didn't see anything in particular, but checked out the poultry barn, barnyard and the cattle barns. Looked through all the buildings, carnival, etc. I found Thunder a yellow John Deere leash to match his green collar. I also found t-shirts for everyone at the Mizzou team store and bought me some wonderful fitting sheets for my waterbed! I think we are going back Sunday to the demo derby.

Hubby worked hard on the bedroom over the weekend. The mudding is almost done, over half the room is primered and the closet is almost done. The door is up, it needs another rod put up and a few more shelves, but I can start putting stuff in it now. I am planning to go get my paint tonight or tomorrow evening so we can start painting! I am so excited!!

charmed one you poor thing! Those coons are smart and a pain in the neck! I read once if we can work the latch they can too! My DH caught a whole family of coons in the front yard about 2 years ago and umm... well we haven't seen a coon since.

Have you heard of Nite Guard? We have had those up ever since we got our chickens and (knock on wood) we have not had a problem with predators, yet! They are only about $20 a piece and ours have lasted almost 2 years , so far. I highly recommend them. We see fox, badgers, coyotes, skunk and I am sure there are coons some where out here! But we haven't had any problems.

Michelle I am glad to hear your bedroom is coming along. Ours is painted and the flooring done, but remember how I said DH was going to build a bed frame and light fixture? Well, lets just say we are still sleeping on the floor!!

Oh well when it is no longer nice out he should have more time.

Camping was kind of the pits! It was a car show and it got rained out. However we went with friends so we couldn't just leave

The only high lite was getting to pick up Raymond. I also met his "girlyfriends" mom last night. Turns out we know each other from a long time ago and we ended up standing outside chatting for a half an hour! The poor kids were nervously staring at each other and rolling their eyes at each other!! You know they were thinking, oh great, they're friends!

I remember meeting Jason's parents the first time, Destiny's ex. The live just up the road from us and his mom and I instantly bonded over the love of pets. I think Jason was horrified, but our families have been best of friends since even though they have long since broke up. I now work for his parents and him and Destiny are closer than they ever were in their 5 years of dating!

I am debating on the flooring for our bedroom. It is the big question mark in our plans. After painting the closet floor, I think I would really like to do the whole bedroom like that. We have concrete floors, but I think if I put down a few rugs by the bed, it should work. I talked hubby into at least trying it to see if we like it, if not, we can put flooring over it at some point. The closet floor is a dark brown and I think it looks really sharp! I already have Thunder's blanket on my side of the bed to step out on anyway! lol
