Ever feel lonely when you dont have any PM's waiting for you?

That is true, but we got our most of our babies with snow on the ground, so not so much for me except our 2 new ducks! Unfortunately, spring also brings out all the predators too, that is the downside. I just wish my biggest predator problem wasn't the neighbor's dog!

What kind of ducks are they? We have been trying all year to get that pair of foxes that get our chickens! We got 2 of their young but we have not gotten the parents yet! Is there anything you can do about the neighbor's dog or no? Dogs sometimes come around our house but we have someone that takes care of them for us

Our 2 "toddler" ducks that are around 3 weeks old, one is a Pekin and the other a Khaki Campbell. The "babies" that are a week old, one is a Khaki Campbell and the other a Black Cayuga. The week after next we have 2 more Black Cayugas coming. So much for only adding 2 new ducks this spring!

Yes, there is something I could/want to do about the dog, but it wouldn't do much for our neighbor relationship! He swears up and down his dog doesn't leave his yard and mostly only lets it out at night unless it is really nice out, but about the time I am ready to go to sleep, he sneaks up in the corner of our yard and makes our 2 outside dogs bark like crazy. He is sly and as soon as we get up to do something about it, he takes off. I have caught him by the goat pen and duck/goose pen many times. I also think he is responsible for our 2 ducks that got out and then disappeared. They don't leave the yard and both were gone in the night.

3 packs! does he smoke in his sleep???

He is a heavy drinker also. He will sometimes smoke 3 or 4 in a row when we are talking. He is 68 years old and his health has failed quite a bit in the past year.

Well now is the time to get healthy! tell him we are all behind him-he can do it-!

We not too long ago got 2 Border Collies and for guarding a farm nothing can beat them!!! One of them has adopted some of our chicks and thinks that she is their mom! They run off dear and fox and dogs and coons and everything!! They are GREAT!!!! What geese do you have?

I wondered if it wasn't getting mushroom time! I have never gone, but I love them! I am excited about another beautiful weekend with not much going on except puttering around in the yard and with the animals! I may even take the 2 bigger ducks out to sunbathe for a while and have a short introduction to the rest of the flock. Colton also wants me to let everyone out to graze on the yard before he has to mow it!

He does most of the riding part, but I got me a push mower to catch anything in the front yard the birds/goats miss!

Our dogs alert us that it is in the yard, but we have ours penned out of respect to our neighbors. We don't live in the country, per se. We live in a village of about 60 people. No really country, but definitely not town. We used to have a Border Collie when the kids were young. He was a great dog!

We hatched our first goose, an embden, last February (Nester) and adopted a friend, a Toulouse last summer. Not sure of the age of Chester or the gender of either of them. I am hoping to have eggs sometime soon to give me a clue! We also have 4 guineas, 3 turkeys (bronze) from last spring. One is a handicapped hen who lives with the goats and the other 2 are a pair. We have 7 month old babies still in the brooder and more coming with the new ducks. (can't remember how many). We, of course, have the loves of my life, 2 spoiled goats and several chickens. RIRs is what we started with, but have added some barred rocks, buff orpingtons, EEs, sex links and a few other stragglers. The chickens and turkeys are actually my son's FFA project and he is primarily responsible for their care.

Yes! I do!!!

We have witnessed mating, but are still unsure on who is who at this point. It is my first experience at geese and really didn't exactly plan on having any. Someone offered us a lone goose egg to hatch when we got some chicken eggs to incubate for the first time. In my infinite wisdom, I was sure it wouldn't hatch. In my incredible luck, it did! As soon as that little fuzzy came out, I was hooked! Good thing we don't have room for very many!
