Well, Jasper got to go to town with his big brother Colton on Saturday to the petting zoo. Both without Mom to keep an eye on him! I hear he had a great time and terrorized everyone there! According to Colton he was a big hit again! (and he hit/headbutted everyone he had a chance to!) He spent yesterday in his play pen outside and when I let him out last night he was so full of energy! He would wait until one of the girls had their head stuck out the fence and then go up and headbutt them and run as fast as he could before they could rear back and get him. He also teased them with their treats. I was sitting on the grass feeding them crackers and when he would come up they would stop and try to butt him, so he grabbed the cracker package and walked back and forth across the fence to tease them. He also chased the cats all over the yard! He went strong for about an hour and went to bed and slept like a rock all night!

I can just picture him running up to the fence and with all his little might headbutting one of the big girls!! I bet they hate that little guy

My Aunt was asking Kenny about my animals this weekend. She asked him if he put a limit on them because she thinks I have enough

Wow! Jasper went to the zoo? That's funny! He must really think he's human.

Thank you for the comments on the babies. T
It sounds like you had a hectic weekend, Michelle. I'm one of those folks who doesn't like to go out all the time on the weekend. I'm happy with a stay at home weekend, most of the time. I don't like having much on my calendar.

Suppose I'd best check my emails...blech. Emails are not fun for me. They are work.

Now if we can just talk Charmed into getting one! Jasper is a pygmy goat, the girls are boers. The pygmy's are the ones that will stay little, the boers are the big ones that are "meat" goats. There are also fainting goats, milking breeds, all kinds to look into. Go to our sister site www.backyardherds.com and they have a lot of info on goats over there. I don't post much, but I lurk at least once a day and try to soak it all in! Unless you are going to breed, you really don't want a buck, but banding them is no big deal either. You just want it done when they are young and it makes it much easier on everyone. The grain is cheap and they eat a lot of hay. They will also need a little mineral. It is very important to keep them wormed and their feet trimmed. Other than that, they are easy to take care of. Of course you know they will jump/climb on anything they can! And it really isn't a good idea to encourage the headbutting. Especially when they are going to grow up and get a lot more weight behind that hit! Jasper can hit pretty good now since his horns are right at that stage that they stick out and he knows exactly how to use them to plant them right above the ankle!! Now you gone and done it, got me rattling about goats! Any other questions?

Those babies are so darned cute! I keep telling myself that I don't need any, but gosh darn it, how adorable!! Orscheln's has in birds again. They have chicks, but mostly just buff orpingtons and common ones like that. They also have guineas of all colors. As annoying as ours are, I had to resist the urge to bring some of those little darlings home! They had them in an open tub about 3 feet high. I laughed and asked hubby if we could come back in a few days and watch them trying to catch them all over the store! Those little buggers will be out of that thing before they know it!

Oh my! Thanks for the information. Now I have some ammo to back up my plea for goats! Kennys X wife was allowed to have one so its only fair right?! Besides I am the one who will take care of it! The only worry I have is where to keep it in the winter. Do you heat a house for them? Also the climbing on everything is Kennys hang up, which I totally understand. That means they have to be penned up, even out here, right?

All my girls had last winter was their 3 sided manger (hubby laughs when I call it that) filled with straw for a bed and they did just fine. (and you remember how cold it was!) As long as they have shelter, they don't like to be wet! Put some stuff for them to climb on in their pen (stumps, etc) but make sure you do not position it so they can use it to jump out! We just have cattle panels up for them and they push on it, but it keeps them in just fine. The girls are usually good when they are out of the fence except when they get bored, then they start climbing, but they have loved the riding lawn mower since they were little and still like to get on it. Once in a while they climb on a vehicle, but they are trained to some extent to know they will get put in "time out" for doing that! They are smart animals and can be trained if you work with them like you do with your dogs. You do have a garden to protect and they will eat any leaf off a tree they can get a hold of, but they can be tied up too when you want to let them out.
