Ever feel lonely when you dont have any PM's waiting for you?

Did you see those gorgeous decorated goose eggs at RenFest? Now those people are serious about their egg decorating!

Yup! I was going to buy one of the little quail eggs dipped in the resin. I want to use it as a bookmark. Never did buy one, though. If only I could figure out what they are dipped in and how they are made I'd consider making them for gifts myself!

Just curious, but how exactly does one use an egg as a bookmark? Is it flattened or something?

I wonder if you can clear coat them FIRST and THEN blow them ?? the clear coat them again .. That might help with the strength .. but I can relate..

It was very very obvious that my silkie eggs weren't as thick as my LF eggs .. I kept cracking and 'sploding them ..

I was thinking that it was the little "jewel" dangling out the top of the book when the bookmark is in place ??

It would have to be pretty hardy ..

They would be attached to the actual bookmark as a sort of charm.

Think of the flat metal types of bookmarks having something that attaches to them with cord or string and lays over the front of the book with tassels or something on it.

I'm tossing around ideas for a possible extra stream of income. I've been trying to think of something that 1) isn't too difficult to do/make 2) has a low startup cost 3) has a product that I can hawk for a pretty good sum of money each year at the local Ren Fair (and maybe some other places/events) 4) Is family friendly / tame enough so as not to generate backlash at work (HA HA)

Ideas appreciated...

Are you going to rent a booth at the Renfest? I know they were pretty expensive a few years ago.

I doubt it. I toss around the idea from time to time, though. I'd need to test in other markets first. I have a couple of ideas of things that would probably do okay in the buy, buy, buy at Ren Fest, though. (Don't want to post the ideas online...ROFL) It's similar enough to things that sell well there but just enough different to be unique, as far as Ren Fair product lines go.

It'll take a few hundred dollars in initial investments & some practice. It's not something I've done enough to just jump into. I need to order some supplies & tweak some skills.

It wouldn't be the next year's Ren Fest for sure -- it'd be a year or two down the line.

Might be expensive to rent a booth, but dang, if some of the booths out there can do well enough with what they have for sale...well, I suspect you can sell ANYTHING. I'd be looking at a freestanding booth, not one of the permanent buildings. Those must cost a FORTUNE. I'm thinking more like the ones that are freestanding -- put up your gazebo, set up your tables types of things. There are a couple of other festivals I think I'll try first if I do it, though.

It never hurts to diversify income streams...
