Ever had a crowing hen?

Another hen crowed right in my face this morning. I think it's contagious.

My Australorp hen was just a little over a year old when she started crowing herd it coming from inside the coop but the rooster was outside looked in the coop and there she was on the roost only one in there. It was a good crow just not as loud as the rooster but she was keeping up with him. She stopped laying eggs at that point. This is a picture of her at that time now her head gear is even bigger she is two now.
 
I heard somewhere that if you don't give them enough attention and you don't have a rooster, they become more independent and hens start crowing? Is this true?

Has nothing to do with human 'attention'....or with the lack of a male.
Tho sometimes when a cock/erel is not present,
a hen might be more likely to assume some male roles.
The crowing can happen whether a male is present or not.

Can someone tell me if they are any articles on this? We heard my hen crowing this morning and we used to have rooster intill my neighbor complained I had the board of health and anamal control at my door and I had to give up my 2 rosters and my 7 ducks I don’t want to loose this hen because she decided to crow like her daddy’s :barnie
