Silkies are good mommas. They think they are 6 foot tall after they hatch those babies. But amazing how they will sit on anything. The Hickory nut story is true. I don't know how in the world she would get those things in that nest. Maybe she rolled them. I don't know. But she had to get them over the edge of the front of the nest. It is about 3 inches tall.
Oh I know 40 isn't cold. I lived in Ohio over half of my life. It is actually 64 here now. It is like SPRING wooooo hooooo... We were at 2 degree last week too.. It was cooooold.. Wind shield was like something like -9... It was 8 degree several mornings when I put my kids on the bus.. But I have lived in FLorida before too.. So I know what those winters are like too..
