Ever heard of fluffing your hens butts?

Okay, now my dog thinks I'm nuts! She's looking at me turning her head from side to side trying to figure out why all of a sudden I started laughing so hard!

Well, if your hens like it...I guess do it. I'm still trying to get my chicks to like me, no layers yet they're only 2 1/2 weeks. They will fly up onto my lap though. Anyway, every time I see Buff Orps I wonder if people do this. The pics from behind them are funny as they have the fluffiest butts I've ever seen.

(Never thought I'd use that phrase until I came to this site...) I figured for those pics the owners must have fluffed the girls, but still funny image. Your poor roo! Jealous boy.

Confession: DBF and I scratch the back of a squatting hen (but not the fluffing butt part) and see who can make the hen shake the most upon regaining her composure.

I don't fluff my hens' butts, but I do frequently 'mate' with the roosters. Okay, that sounds really bad, but what I mean is that whenever any of my roos gets it in his head to think he is higher in the pecking order than me and gets an attitude, I grab him by the back of his neck and push him to the ground. Then I hold him there while mussing the feathers on his back. The idea being to imitate what the roos do to show dominance.

Not sure what the roos think about it, but it sure puts them in their place and stops them from trying to flog me...at least until they forget and start to wonder if they can challenge me for leadership of the flock again.

Okay, I can NOT get this whole chicken butt fluffer thing out of my head. I keep getting mental pictures of XXX fluffers (or what I imagine they look like) and then chickens. (shudder) You people are weird. Of course, let's what I say once my girls start laying.

I so thought I was the only one who did that. How can you resist that big bunch of fluff?! I'm a chicken bottom fluffer and I'm proud! O.K., maybe 'proud' is a strong word, but I'm not ashamed.

That's just not right... Have to admit that had same image had been in my head but after a full body shudder, I shook it off and remembered what the topic was about, lol. I'm with you, we'll see what I say when the girls start to lay. Still though, are BO's naturally that fluffy bottomed? They are so funny looking! I want three... I love funny looking birds! Oops off topic... I'm still watching what everyone else says on this. The thing about the rooster dominance though, hmm I think I'm going to file that little tid bit away in case my roos get ornery
