I don't mind them eating the bird seed too much, but they got into my garden and ate 1/2 my corn. 8 squirrels have mysteriously disapeared from my yard in the last week

This is what worked for me for years. Throw a piece of twine over a branch, a branch way out and flimsy. Squirrels don't like flimsy branches. Hang the feeder up at least 6 feet. You should have no problem after that.
