A kid who sat behind me Freshman year, took his life by lying on the tracks a few days ago. We talked, shared answers, passed notes...never thought he was going to leave..I know this is a chicken place, but you guys have such warm hearts and you can't find a better community anywhere else..if you want I also posted this pic ---------------------------------->>>>>>>>>>>

I am sorry for both you and the young person who died. Until you know someone who has committed suicide -- by any means -- it is impossible to understand how that kind of death affects the people left behind or why someone would choose to end his or her own life.

It's often said that suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. It is a solution that leaves those still alive with nagging questions for years to come. My aunt, who had a number of challenges in her life, shot herself to death when she was only 28. It devastated her older sister, my mother.

Although my mom suffered with cancer and horrendous medical tests and procedures, we were all still totally unprepared when she -- who knew how devastating suicide can be for loved ones -- also chose to shoot herself. The pain of her life was simply more than she could bear.

You can't always know who is at risk. My advice is to treat EVERYONE you care about -- and even those you don't -- with kindness and respect. You don't know their inner turmoil or torment, so please don't add to it.

My thoughts and prayers are with you.
