My girls aren't old enough to lay yet but when they are is there a particular time of the day the laying goes on? morning, evening, night time? Will they all lay at the same time of the day or will I need to check on them more often? Also when the days get shorter do they change the time of day they lay?

Supposedly the egg formation and laying cycle is about 26 hours or so. Therefore, they do not lay at the same time every day. And occasionally they will not lay one day and the cycle get re-set. Remember we are dealing with living organisims and not machines. Variety is indeed the spice of life!

My first eggs for each hen came at different times of the day, although the majority of them were in the early afternoon. Go figure.
