Mary ,I am not good at guessing weight but I have some Old english bantams and they are heavier than them! About the same height but lots more body mass. I had to put out my rabbit nest boxes for them because they couldn't fit into the rollers nest boxes!
Yard bird what kind of breed is the pretty little gal holding? Is it a King?
I'm new to this forum and havent figured out how to post photos yet, however here are some photos off my website hope you like...just click on the photo gallery and the slideshow should start.
i started keeping ringneck doves 10 years ago when i was 8 i had seven, and my mom told me i wasn't allowed to let them breed, now i have more birds in more species than i can count...
this was my favorite bird, one of my first, sweetest thing, a white rescue homing pigeon broke out of his cage and killed her a few years ago, i almost strangled the darn thing when i found it.
this was my first silky, beautiful bird, i got her from the secretary of the american dove association (at the time) the same pigeon killed her as well, it took out my two best birds. After that i waited for a hawk and through the pigeon out.
one of my russian tumblers, i had to get rid of them last summer, but while i had them i loved them, they even got along with the doves. now i have alot more silkies and a few crested, i'm working on breeding both, if i get a chance i'l take some pics later
Do they come in other colors besides recessive red? Recessive red is the only color I've seen in them so far. I know Faded causes the shade difference, so as long as they have that gene (pure for it), they could come in any color and still be auto-sexing. I just couldn't remember which sex was the light one, and which was the dark one
