Went out to the coop at 6 a. m. it was raining to check on everybody. We noticed one of our 6 month old chickens laying there with apparent broken neck. It was sideways, the chicken can walk I guess but neck is sideways. This happened to another one about a month ago. What could cause this? We do have other hens, our Red Stars are aggresive towards them, especially over food, which they get more than enough . Do other chickens go to this extreme? What should we do? Can he be saved?

Thank you. Where can I buy the polyvisal? Is the electrolytes in pedilite like we use for children or different?

Thank you, upon further internet searc, I think he has Wry Neck. He actually went out with his siblings today, and was eating and walking around. We left the other hens and roosters in the pen. They like chopped tomatoes, sweet potato skins(cooked) little garlic powder and egg shells, all chopped in food processor, he was eating with them. Going to get meds.

I just successfully treated two cases of wry neck back to back in my own flock. I used vitamin E selenium vitamin B polyvisol liquid children's vitamins without iron. I also used predinsone.but the predinsone is not necessary for the vitamin treatment to work. I used it because my cases were very severe . hope this helps and remember have patience it takes around 3 weeks to heal. Best wishes
