Hello,
I'm a newbie to this site and a bit of s newbie to ex battery hens. I've had warrens and Sussex in the past but thought I'd do my bit in rescuing a few battery hens. They have seem to be settling in well and have most of their feathers now. However in this damp and foggy weather we are having in Lancashire they seem "overly wet" compared to my other chickens. Is there anything I can feed them to help with their feathers or is it just a time thing that they'll become more waterproof?

Thank you

glad you have joined us.

Chicken feathers are not waterproof - they have to dry out. I would consider taking them inside somewhere to help them dry out if you don't think it will add to their stress?

It looks like you've been given some good links to check out so I'll just say thanks for joining us and best of luck with your birds.

Welcome!

As you have already received some good advice, I just wanted to add that I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun. Unlike non chicken loving friends, family and colleagues, BYC’ers never tire of stories or pictures that feature our feathered and non feathered friends
