Hello,
I'm a newbie to this site and a bit of s newbie to ex battery hens. I've had warrens and Sussex in the past but thought I'd do my bit in rescuing a few battery hens. They have seem to be settling in well and have most of their feathers now. However in this damp and foggy weather we are having in Lancashire they seem "overly wet" compared to my other chickens. Is there anything I can feed them to help with their feathers or is it just a time thing that they'll become more waterproof?

Thank you

Greetings, saz1981, and :welcome! Great to have you aboard. I'm not sure if there is anything that can be fed to make your birds shed water more effectively. Others may chime in with ideas, however. You might also post your question in this link: https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/12/feeding-watering-your-flock
Best wishes and thanks for joining BYC!

glad you have joined us.

Chicken feathers are not waterproof - they have to dry out. I would consider taking them inside somewhere to help them dry out if you don't think it will add to their stress?
