James came to me with a crop the size of a gala melon two or three months ago. Vet could find no obvious reason for it, and put it down to the stress of rescue. Several months on and she's still wearing her support harness. However, she lays just fine and has acted normally up until this morning, Sunday.

She laid an egg on Friday, but not Saturday. She passed normal droppings overnight, but the feathers around her vent were wet this morning. I assumed either vent gleet or egg bound, as she was just sitting in a nesting box. However, when I examined her she passed clear liquid. I've watched her pass it a few times now.

I've had her in a sectioned off part of the run with food and water (containing Poultry Drink, a sugar and mineral solution), and a pet carrier. I've also given her some antifungal cream orally, to fight sour crop, and some calcium supplement in case it is an egg issue. She's not much interested in food, but is drinking a lot.

I've let her out for a walk around to observe her for a while. She's intermittently standing with her eyes closed, and walking about pecking at bugs. Not her active, noisey self.

Abdomen feels a little bloated but not solid, and I can't feel an egg. She does not like me touching her abdomen though.

Tempted to give some metacam. 0.1mg/kg, right? No vet access on a Sunday, so will call tomorrow but I doubt they can do much other then "shrug, want to try antibiotics?" but I'm not convinced the stress of a vet trip is a good idea just to randomly throw antibiotics at her (I'm in the UK, so can't just buy them).

Any ideas? The suddenness is odd. As I said, laying fine until Saturday, and no respiratory symptoms, and the other two are fine.

Her tail does occasionally droop, but it's intermittent and I think connected to her support harness placement.

Update. Getting some matter along with slightly thicker fluid and white, and a couple of undigested sunflower seeds. Though she's looking less perky now. I carried her into the coop and she's seetled down on the perch and gone to sleep.

I had taken her support off for a couple of hours, but I've put it back on now.

Monday morning update. Still with us. Looking a little brighter than last night. Passed some faeces last night. It's cold out today, and very windy, so will keep her indoors. She's eating an egg at the moment.

Monday PM update. She escaped the hospital pen, trashed the kitchen, pooped on everything, and laid an egg in the sink.

I think we're good :D
