If you use sand for a dust bath it should be construction grade. Something in play sand causes respitory issues. And dont use sulphur with chickens thats respitory issues also. I use dirt and DE with some mixed herbs. And yes DE is safe I drink it. make sure you are getting food grade and not the crystaline
