Time and time again I see negative hatchery reviews, but with every one negative experience you see, there are hundreds of positive experiences you don’t see. I would like to share my most recent experience with Murray McMurray Hatchery.

On May 20th I placed my order for 12 White Leghorn pullets and 13 straight run Silver Leghorns, as well as a free mystery chick. I chose the week of June 2nd for my chicks to ship. The ordering process online was seamless and user friendly. I got the notification yesterday June 3rd that my chicks had shipped and a call from my local post office today, June 4th at 2:30 pm that my chicks had arrived! So my chicks spent less than 24 hours in shipping! Upon arrival at the post office, we opened the box of chicks and all 27 chicks (they sent 1 extra Silver Leghorn) were alive and well. The free mystery chick is a Sicilian Buttercup and my son is so excited about it. Once we got the chicks home, they immediately began happily eating and drinking when I placed them in the brooder, all without me having to show them where the food and water was. They are perfect, healthy, and vigorous, and I couldn’t be happier with my experience.

I have only ever used Murray McMurray Hatchery and they have always done right by us. Even when we have lost chicks during shipping, they immediately replaced the lost chicks. Murray McMurray Hatchery is a family owned business that I trust, and I felt obliged to share my experience.

I will add that I am in Kentucky and Murray McMurray Hatchery is in Webster City, IA, a distance of 807 miles.

Oh boy, happy babies! Psst, you're going to need a bigger brooder! Lol
That is the brooder we keep chicks in for a day or two after hatching in the house. I just wanted them close by for a bit so I could watch them in case one started acting poorly. I will move them to the brooder building maybe tomorrow or one day this weekend. We have hundreds of chickens and lots of brooders. lol. 😆

I figured as much, that's why i "whispered " it was a "yolk." Lol

This makes my heart happy. I have never ordered from a hatchery. Usually, I incubate my own or purchase locally. I did lots of research and this is the same hatchery I chose for my newest chicks. My chicks should be here the week of June16th and I've been anxiously awaiting news and hopeful that the process is as smooth as it seems to be. Thank you for the reassurance as I await their arrival.

You’re very welcome! I hope your chicks arrive safe and healthy! Post back with an update once they arrive! ❤️

My order is coming this week, too! I’ve had great luck w them in the past, fingers crossed!

I wanted to give an update on our chicks. All 27 are still doing great (we partially split an order and 6 of the White Leghorns were for a friend but all are alive and well). We had no losses, which is amazing. A few of the Silver Leghorns got a little pasty butt a few days in but that has resolved. They are all vigorous and lively, and there isn’t a poorly one in the bunch. I am beyond pleased. 🥰

Just curious, I have white leghorns in the order, and haven’t decided which breeds we are keeping yet (also splitting). How has their temperament been? I prefer not to have chicks that run away from me while cleaning and “freak out” per say….so flighty drives me crazy lol. But I really wanted to keep at least one of them!
