Excessive water drinking

Hello,

If anyone has any input, it would be greatly appreciated. All our flock is drinking water excessively, no matter what feed we feed. One chicken will drink 1/2 of a gallon of water a day. In years past they would only drink say 1/4 of a cup a day.. What would cause this?

Without the limited information given, I would guess that the excessive heat is the causative factor.

It's the craziest thing, even in the dead of winter they are gulping water. I have noticed there is alot of dirt in the bottom of the water cups also. I was thinking maybe throat worms, but we are on a good worming program.

Is maybe your waterer leaking or is it not level?
