Hi all, I'm Rod. A family friend raised "backyard" chickens for a year before they had to move to an area that did not allow them, but they had them long enough to make me want to do it myself. They gave me a book that they thought I would like "A Chicken In Every Yard" written by Robert and Hannah Litt it is very well written and I enjoyed it very much. I had an old 4X6 foot shed that I have turned into a coop, and I built a 6X16 foot run with 4 feet of it protected from rain. I have purchased a heat lamp and feeders and will be using a spare bath tub as a brooder for my chicks that will be arriving the second week of July.
