(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

Kind of. I had 6 chickens 3 years ago, but I had to move far away so I gave them to a good friend who has a farm. I just got 11 hens in july and am back to being a chicken mom.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

11

(3) What breeds do you have?

I have 2 americaunas (one black and one yellow)
3 silver laced wyandottes
3 gold laced wyandottes
1 brown leghorn
2 jersey giants

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?

Oh my goodness. I love it all. I love being able to provide fresh eggs for my family and friends. I love being able to just go out and hang out with the girls. I could watch them run around and snuggle all day.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

I love woodworking
Baking
Cooking
Crochet and knitting
Spending time on the river

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I also have 4 dogs and 2 cats
I am currently working from home running a business as well as being my father's caretaker.
I have 2 children

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D

I found BYC googling information on chicken care. I have known about the site since I got my first flock 3 years ago. I finally decided to join because I just now realized I was able to

Welcome to BYC! We are happy to hear you finally found a property that lets you free range once again!:frow Enjoy those eggs! Also if you love baking we have a great thread of enablers. @N F C https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/any-home-bakers-here.921333/page-2553 is a great thread to follow and post recipes or photos to. I usually scrape others recipes there, but it has gotten me back into saving money by baking my own breads and other items again.

Congratulations on being a chicken mom again. There really are few things more relaxing and rewarding than just watching a flock go about its business.

Sounds like you have plenty to keep you busy, along with plenty of responsibility.

Welcome to BYC! As you know, it's a great place to spend time and to learn -- about lots of things!!

Hello there and welcome to BYC! :frow

So glad you decided to join our community! You certainly have come to the right place for all the fun and learning. Make yourself at home here and welcome to our roost! :)

:frow:welcome I’m glad you were able to get back into having a flock. It is a nice distraction when you’re overwhelmed. I don’t know what your father’s capabilities are, but they can be a joy to him too. Even if you just tell him what antics they have been up to, and have him hold one on occasion.
Good luck on your journey, and know that we do have groups for caregivers, and you can share in the other threads as well. :hugs

:welcome

Welcome back to poultry raising! Please do drop in on our home baker's thread, @AllenK RGV has given you the link. If you look at page 1 of the thread, you'll find a link to an index that will help you find recipes...or just share your own (and pictures are fun).

Thanks for joining us!
