Hello!

I'm located in the Midwest. My Husband and I bought a couple of acres a little over a year ago and are wanting to start a small homestead. Raised garden beds, chickens, maybe some goats. We had horses but recently decided to sell as it wasn't the best use for our small acreage.

I've been reading a lot about chickens but it all seems so confusing TBH. So I am here to learn!

Beyond that, we keep pretty busy. I have a part time job at a law firm, two kids, and own to small art based businesses, one as an artist and one as a face painter.

So, that's me! Thanks for having me :)

Hello there and welcome to BYC! :frow

Chickens are pretty easy to raise and take care of if you know the basics. Have you stopped by our Learning Center yet? All kinds of great reads on all the aspects of getting started to keeping them proper Here.

And of course feel free to ask as many questions as needed. Welcome aboard! :)

You guys are so welcoming! I appreciate that!

Since someone asked, I am attaching a few photos of my art :)

My biggest confusion has been the coop! haha! I have been looking at lots of plans. I would like to do it affordably and not buy a pre made one for a grand or more but at the same time I want it to be "pretty". We are thinking of converting our run in barn (part of it) into a coop. I need to make a thread about this once I can get a photo to see if people think it is feasible.
